iCharge™ Mobile WAP
Your Cash Register on the move...
You can now accept credit card payments from your customers anywhere and anytime. On site, on the road, on board, on the move - wherever your job takes you.

All you need is a standard mobile phone, which becomes an EFTPOS terminal in your pocket. You don't even need to make a phone call, your mobile phone communicates with iCharge™ using GPRS - a low cost data communication channel available on most recent model mobile phones.

Transaction details are simply keyed into a form on the screen and submitted. A response screen is returned within a few seconds to confirm if the transaction is approved or declined. If the card is good for payment, money is in your bank before you leave the job. No more end-of-day paperwork, visits to the bank or double handling of transactions.

Who can use iCharge™ Mobile?
iCharge™ Mobile is designed for the convenience of today's mobile businesses large and small - anyone who needs to make sales or perform services while on the road or at the customer's site without being tied down to a standard office or shop environment. The range of potential users is immense and includes: couriers, delivery drivers, electricians, builders, plumbers, direct sales reps, equipment repairers, mechanics, gardeners/landscapers, pet care providers, locksmiths, piano tuners, home/office cleaners, market stall operators, trade show exhibitors, removalists, caterers, just to name a few.

Anywhere commerce
iCharge™ Mobile not only allows you to open for business anywhere and anytime, but is the only such service in Australia that works with any phone over any network supporting any card brand. You can also have your merchant account with any major Australian bank including ANZ Bank, BankWest, Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, St George Bank and Westpac.

iCharge™ Mobile is an independent service and there are no tie-ins, allowing you to choose and change banks, networks and phones anytime. iCharge™ Mobile requires only a standard mobile phone which supports GPRS and WAP (most phones do). Use your existing phone and SIM and there is no additional hardware to pay for, carry around and possibly lose or damage.

The same merchant administration system, PayManager, is used to manage all your transactions, whether mobile or non-mobile.

About GPRS and WAP
GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) is a data communication service that connects mobile phones to the Internet so that you can send and receive email, send and receive pictures and interact with sites specially designed for mobile phone access.

Two important characteristics of GPRS make it very suitable for conducting transactions. First, you are charged on data volume, not on connect time. Therefore it is feasible leave your GPRS connection always on and ready for use. You pay nothing until you actually transmit or receive data.

Second, while GPRS can be costly if used for downloading large email documents or browsing the web, it is very cost-efficient when used for iCharge™ Mobile because the amount of data traffic generated by a transaction is very small. The actual cost to you depends on your mobile plan, but is typically less than 0.10 per transaction.

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) are the standards that are used by mobile phones to pass through the mobile network and access Internet content, turning your mobile phone into a mini-browser. WAP allows your phone to operate in a very similar way to a computer accessing the Internet, for example using a URL to access a site or a page, displaying content on the screen and allowing you to interact with the content using links, buttons and forms.

Does your mobile phone support WAP and GPRS?
Most mobile phones purchased since 2003 come with WAP and GPRS support as standard features and all mobile network providers in Australia provide GPRS service. The WAP Browser on your phone will also need to support SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) which performs end-to-end encryption of all transmissions. This feature is also standard on most WAP phones. Check your phone menu or your phone manual under Services, Web or Connectivity.

Note that some network providers do not turn on GPRS service by default and you will need to contact their support call centre to activate GPRS.

If your phone does not support WAP and GPRS, all is not lost! You can still use iCharge™ Mobile SMS. iCharge™ Mobile SMS communicates using text messaging instead of GPRS and works on ANY mobile phone and ALL networks.

What about security?
Users need to log in with a PIN to access iCharge™ Mobile. After 3 consecutive unsuccessful attempts, the phone is locked out and needs to be unlocked by the iCharge™ administrator (someone back in your office with access to the administration system on the Web).

All communication is encrypted end-to-end between the mobile phone and the iCharge™ servers using 128-bit SSL, giving the same level of security as secure e-commerce sites on the Internet.

All transmissions between your phone and the iCharge™ server are tracked by a serial number and any attempt to inject messages from another phone or mobile device will be detected and your phone locked out.

Credit card details are never stored on your phone or your SIM, so cannot be retrieved even if the phone falls into the wrong hands. Ultimately, even if someone is able to access the system through your phone, all they can do is to pay you some money.
